Columbia February 2013

Grandma and Grandpa went to Columbia.  Columbia is a country in the Northern part of South America.  It is located  several thousand miles due South of the  Allegheny Highlands and is in the same time zone.  However the climate is very different.  Columbia is very close to the Equator and has what is called Tropical weather.

The Tropics are a region marked by latitudes North and South of the Equator which have warm climates all of the time.

Here is a picture of a reservoir lake in the mountains above Medellin.

Here is a picture of the stairs we climbed to get to the top of the big rock and take the picture of the Reservoir Lake.

Here is a picture of a residential street in a small town.  The houses are small, close together and beautiful.

Here is a picture of Columbian children.  Grandma is talking to them.

Here is a picture of Grandma and Grandpa on a one car ferry boat.  The ferry did not have a motor.  The ferryman would move a large rudder back and forth and use the river current to float the boat across.
